SureSmile® aligners are customized, transparent, removable trays that shift your teeth into their ideal position, without the brackets and wires used in traditional braces.

Less noticeable: SureSmile® aligners are made from Essix ACE, a clear, BPA-free thermoplastic. Unlike metal brackets, which are visible from across the room, these aligners are nearly invisible. Teens and adults who want to keep their treatment private benefit from this discreet design.

Getting SureSmile® Clear Aligners: The Procedure

SureSmile® aligners use a series of custom plastic trays to apply gentle, steady pressure that guides misaligned teeth into place. You may feel some pressure when you first put in a new tray, but most patients adjust quickly and stay comfortable throughout treatment.

Digital Scan and Treatment Plan

Getting started with SureSmile® begins with an exam by a qualified dentist to confirm you’re a good candidate. Instead of a messy putty impression, we take a digital scan of your teeth along with any needed X-rays. Your dentist prescribes a personalized treatment plan and sends it to the SureSmile® Digital Lab, where your custom aligners are made.

Your First Sets of Aligners

You’ll take your first set of SureSmile® trays home the same day. Wear each aligner 20 to 22 hours a day, removing it only to eat, brush, and floss. Most patients switch to the next tray in the series roughly every two weeks, following the schedule your dentist sets for your case.

Follow Up Visits

Patients typically return to our office every four to eight weeks, depending on the complexity of the case, so we can confirm your teeth are tracking to plan. SureSmile® aligners don’t require special maintenance beyond regular brushing and rinsing.
